Progressive Design-Build for Rail and Transit Projects: Room to Run
With immense pride, U.S.-based Hill International, Inc. celebrates 15 years of operation in India. Our company established its first country office in Gurugram (then Gurgaon) in September 2009, when reputed developers DLF and Bombay Realty entrusted Hill with prestigious project and construction management contracts on landmark projects, including the ultra-luxury residential complex The Camellias and high-end office complex Horizon Center in Gurugram, the high-end shopping complex The Chanakya in New Delhi, and the luxury residential towers Island City Center 1 & 2 in Mumbai.
After nearly ten years of providing management consultancy services on vertical projects, Hill broke into India’s burgeoning transportation sector. In 2018, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) awarded Hill, as part of a consortium, a general consultancy services contract on the Mumbai Metro Lines 4 and 4A, a 35-km, fully elevated rail segment with more than 30 stations. Hill’s consortium continues to provide design review, construction supervision, and overall project management services on behalf of MMRDA for the project.
Since our entry into India’s transportation sector, Hill’s technical expertise, strong reputation, and commitment to participating in the country’s development have led to additional project management contracts on notable infrastructure projects. These include Delhi Metro’s Phase IV, a 65-km mass rapid transit line; the 1.8-km Kharghar-Turbhe Road Tunnel project in Navi Mumbai; and, most recently, two twin roadway tunnel projects in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, the Orange Gate to Marine Drive project and the Thane to Borivali project.
Hill has also expanded our country portfolio with major new building assignments, such as the Indian Oil Corporation, Ltd.’s new Research & Development Center project and the Asian Development Bank’s Headquarters Building expansion project, both in Delhi’s National Capital Region.
Moreover, in 2021, Hill enhanced our project management service line with the acquisition of a cost and commercial consultancy firm headquartered in Chennai. In addition to expanding our service offerings, the acquisition has bolstered our connections with leading real estate developers, corporates, and investors, throughout the country and positioned our team to win new vertical work.
Growing Together
Leveraging Hill’s core values of innovation, safety and security, and integrity, our India team has found continuous success providing project and construction management, as well as cost and commercial consultancy services, on all of our assignments in the country.
“We are energized and honored to be participating in the next phase of India’s infrastructure growth across multiple sectors, and to provide high-quality services to developers on their prestigious real estate projects,” says Kshitish V. Nadgauda, Senior Vice President & Managing Director of Hill India. “With the capabilities and expertise to provide a full range of project and construction management and cost and commercial consultancy services under one roof, we are committed to helping ensure safety and quality on our assignments and taking a strong teaming approach with stakeholders and partners to deliver the best value for our esteemed clients.”
“Our India team is an integral part of Hill International,” adds Waleed Abdel-Fattah, President of Hill’s Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. “In addition to the experience and expertise of our in-country professionals, Hill’s internal communication and coordination tools connect our colleagues in India with the wider Hill family, promote ready access to global resources and expertise, and enable regional oversight to make certain our local teams deliver the high quality of professional services Hill is known for internationally. I am confident our excellent local team, backed by the Hill brand and our internal assets, will continue to play a major role in India’s bright future. As a company, we look forward to growing with the country for years to come.”
