Project Value $15 Million
As part of an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract with the Southern California Regional Rail Authority (SCRRA), Hill is providing project management support and design review services for the Camarillo Metrolink Station Underpass project in Camarillo, CA. Owned by the Ventura County Transportation Commission, Camarillo Station is located on Union Pacific Railroad’s Santa Barbara Subdivision of the Coast Line, which serves freight and passenger rail between Los Angeles and San Francisco.
SCRRA’s project includes the construction of a new pedestrian undercrossing beneath the two existing railway tracks at the station. The undercrossing will replace an existing pedestrian bridge over the tracks to comply with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. Complete with ADA-compliant switchback ramps, the new undercrossing will provide all passengers with safe and direct access between the station’s two platforms and parking areas. The project will also involve selective demolition, relocation of utilities, reconstruction of existing parking areas to improve pedestrian safety/means of egress, new landscaping, and more.
The Hill team is providing design review and overall project management support for the project. This includes reviewing all design documents to confirm their accuracy and promote compliance with all SCRRA, ADA, and local jurisdictional requirements. Leveraging our staff experience in supporting SCRRA projects during design and construction, Hill is also confirming constructability and making timely technical recommendations on matters such as, but not limited to, staging, coordination with authorities-having-jurisdiction, and rail construction safety best practices. These efforts help mitigate construction risk, reduce the impact of construction on railway operations, and promote budget and schedule success. Other responsibilities include coordinating with stakeholders; monitoring budgets, cash flows, and the project’s master schedule; helping SCRRA manage funding, grants, project reporting, and agency agreements; and identifying lessons learned to help SCRRA update their Engineering Standards.
