Hill, in joint venture, is providing technical consultancy services for multiple projects associated with the implementation of the Thessaloniki Metro system.

The Thessaloniki Metro system’s main component, the Base Project, comprised the construction of a 9.6 KM underground mainline with 2 tracks and 13 stations, strategically positioned beneath key city thoroughfares and central locations. The Base Project also encompasses the construction of a depot in the Pylea area, including an operations control center (OCC), an emergency control center (ECC) and an administrative headquarters, for train stabling, maintenance, and repairs. The Base Project was commissioned in November 2024 and is currently in revenue service.

Electromechanical works are currently underway on the 4.7 KM extension of the Thessaloniki Metro to Kalamaria, featuring 5 additional stations and 15 new trains, planned to open by late 2025. Planned future extensions will expand the network to Thessaloniki’s western suburbs and Thessaloniki International Airport

As technical consultant, Hill offers technical solutions and optimization recommendations across each project’s lifecycle. The Hill team’s services include design review, surveys, tendering support, construction supervision and coordination, quality assurance/quality control, testing, and commissioning. Hill also helps Elliniko Metro plan additional projects to expand transit access throughout Thessaloniki and the surrounding areas.
