Hill provided project management services for the Leonard H.O. Spearman Technology Building for Texas Southern University in Houston, TX. This state-of-the-art science and technology facility houses a variety of research laboratories, including the new Tier 1 National University Transportation Center TransLIVE (Transportation for Livability by Integrating Vehicles and Environment) and construction, civil engineering, electronics, and computer science labs.
The Technology facility also houses the Center for Transportation Training and Research, the Department of Homeland Security National Transportation Center of Excellence for Petro-chemical Transportation (NTCOE-P), and the Center for Research on Complex Networks (CRCN), a new National Science Foundation Center of Research Excellence in Science and Technology (CREST). The building houses the University’s Departments of Aviation Science and Technology, Computer Science, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Physics, and Transportation Studies.
The Leonard H.O. Spearman Technology Building was one of the major components of TSU’s “Renaissance of Excellence” initiative. This program was a multi-year endeavor that strives to move the institution into the foreground of major urban-serving universities. The mission of Texas Southern University as a special purpose institution for urban programming is to academically prepare and develop predominately African American students to enter a dynamic and changing world as upwardly mobile, productive citizens and to contribute to scholarship, research, and outreach programs.
