Construction’s Digital Transformation & The Tools of Modern Project Management
Hill International, the global leader in managing construction risk, has hired transit industry expert Danny Rogers, PE, as Vice President. He will support the firm’s oversight work with the Federal Transit Administration (FTA).

His skillset and experience will augment and improve our efforts and bring significant success to our transit assignments, both immediately and long-term.”
Rogers has more than three decades of experience, and has served for such clients as the North Carolina Department of Transportation, Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization (CRTPO) for the Charlotte Urbanized Area, and Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS). Among others, Rogers’ experience includes acting as Project Director for the Durham-Orange Light Rail (D-O LRT) Project and the LYNX Blue Line Extension Light Rail (BLE-LR).
The D-O LRT is a $2.47 billion New Starts Project that will connect the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill through Duke University into downtown Durham with a termination point at the campus of North Carolina Central University. This project is 17.7 miles and features 19 stations. As the Project Director, Rogers oversaw project development and engineering design while managing a team of nine direct reports and additional support staff. He also directed the general engineering, program management, and construction management consultants. In addition, Rogers was responsible for reviewing contract documents to verify compliance with federal and state requirements and regulations, as well as monitoring the schedule, budget, and quality.
For the $1.16 billion Blue Line Extension New Starts Project, Rogers oversaw development and construction of both the BLE-LR Project and the $22.5 million Blue Line Capacity Expansion (BLCE) Project. The BLE-LR Project extended the existing Blue Line 9.3 miles to the campus of UNC Charlotte, adding 11 stations. His responsibilities included managing a project team of 11 direct reports, support staff from several CATS departments, and numerous stakeholders. Additionally, he directed services of two construction management consultants and the designer of record. Other responsibilities included reviewing contract documents for compliance with federal and state requirements, monitoring the project to determine schedule and budget adherence, and providing construction management technical support.
Rogers earned both his Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University. Among others, Rogers has completed the following industry training: Leadership APTA 2008; Management of Transit Construction Projects – NTI 2011; Safety & Security Certification Training 2013; Project Management for Transit Professionals – NTI 2010; Risk Assessment for Transit Capital Projects – NTI 2011; Quality Assurance and Quality Control in Transit – NTI 2017; and FRA Roadway Worker Safety Training (NS and CSX) – 2014.
