Hill provided project management and staffing support services to Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS) in implementing its multi-year capital project program across sites in the northeastern United States. Under a global master agreement, the program provides BMS with expertise in managing capital projects within pharmaceutical, biotech, and research that integrate seamlessly with BMS delivery teams. Staff was assigned full time, on-site, and were responsible for managing all aspects of the construction process, from conceptual design through construction and project close-out.
The Hill team managed a diverse portfolio of strategic projects, including capacity upgrades, facility renovations, and infrastructure upgrades to support general plant operations. Hill project managers interfaced closely with BMS senior management during project execution to help ensure deliverables were aligned with BMS’s overall strategy, and help transform project sites into best-in-class facilities.
Key responsibilities included leading the execution of capital projects in compliance with BMS Safety Standards, managing capital projects to support facility and process improvements while integrating Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) and BMS requirements and best practices; implementing capital projects consistent with established BMS project execution standards and procedures; and coordinating projects with EHS, site maintenance, calibration, validation, automation, and facilities teams from project initiation to close-out.
The Hill team applied regulatory, environmental, cGMP/GLP, and OSHA regulations, and brought experience with laboratories, manufacturing facilities, utilities and infrastructure, construction, maintenance, and operations. Hill staff were able to scope projects, obtain budget estimates, write capital appropriation requests, develop project schedules, troubleshoot, plan and track projects via Microsoft Project, and manage cross-functional project teams in a matrix organization. In addition, the team met BMS qualifications for collaborating, improving processes, and providing sound judgment to safely maintain schedule and budget while working in concert with contractors and internal technicians.
