Hill provided project management services for the 90,000 SF addition to the Spokane Convention Center located in downtown Spokane, WA. Hill’s initial responsibilities included assisting with obtaining Washington State Capital Projects Advisory Review Board – Project Review Committee approval to use the design-build delivery method, preparing the Request for Qualifications and Request for Proposals, attending proprietary meetings, issuing addenda, evaluating proposals, assisting with contract negotiations, attending design meetings, and reviewing design submittals. Other Hill responsibilities included procurement and management of specialty consultants, development of the baseline budget cost report, monthly budget reconciliation of budget vs. actuals costs, development of milestone project schedule, review of monthly contractor progress schedules, change order management, issuing weekly observation reports, punchlist management, and management of project close-out activities.
The scope of the project included adding 20,000 SF of exhibit space, 25,000 SF of meeting rooms and junior ballroom space, 15,000 SF of lobbies and pre-function space and support space. Enlarging the exhibit hall space and adding the meeting rooms enables the Spokane Convention Center to compete with larger venues to the benefit of local hotels, businesses, and Spokane County.
“The Hill team has worked closely with the Board and staff and successfully demonstrated its leadership, passion, commitment, and technical competency as the Spokane Public Facilities District’s project manager. With construction scheduled to start next month, we are looking forward to the continuance of our strong and collaborative relationship with Hill International and the project’s successful completion.” -Kevin Twohig, CFE, Chief Executive Officer
